Chanchal Cabrera’s Recipe for Golden Milk
Turmeric is best absorbed with black pepper and some dietary fat, and this tasty, warming drink makes it quick, easy, and affordable to take daily.
12 oz coconut milk
1-3 tsp powdered organic turmeric (start slowly)
a pinch of ground black pepper
cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, fennel, as desired
honey to taste
Warm the milk and stir in the powders and honey to taste. I like to use my latte whisk to froth it a bit, but this isn't essential.
Other herbs may be added: eleuthero, maca, and ashwagandha as adaptogens; shatavari as a nutritive, moistening agent; marshmallow as a food for beneficial bowel flora.
