Hi, I’m Charis Lindrooth, founder of BotanicWise. I work hard to bring top-quality herbal education to my Community, as well as share my passion for the inner-workings of the brain.
My journey began with the loss of my grandmother and then my father to dementia. I knew there had to be more options for others suffering from neurological conditions.
Now, as I face the challenge of Parkinson’s my work is even more personal. Every day, I’m “walking my talk,” and I am blown away by the power of nature to support and heal.
As a companion to my groundbreaking program, Keeping Your Brain Brilliant, I am honored to present Optimize Your Neurochemistry: Practical Steps to a Brilliant Brain.
What's Inside this Program?
Look closely at a healthy brain and you will see awe-inspiring synchronous activity. Like the flickering luminous northern lights –– or a symphony playing Beethoven’s 7th –– the function of the brain relies on extraordinary molecules called neurochemicals.
Everything you do, think, and feel –– including every health protocol you follow –– is governed by the action and inaction of these neurochemicals.
This is neurochemistry.
Four pillars of neurochemistry allow you to:
- Focus when you work
- Relax when you need to de-stress
- Restore mental well-being
- Boost memory and cognitive performance
- Support restorative sleep
- Increase mental clarity
- Improve the benefits of exercise
And so much more.
They are key to our sense of self and well-being.
Also called “neuromodulators” — dopamine, epinephrine, serotonin, and acetylcholine –– these brain chemicals are highly sensitive to cues and stimuli. Each one impacts your mental states and behaviors, including focus, creativity, motivation, drive, learning, alertness, mood, relationships, and feelings of well-being.
What if you were the conductor of this symphony?
What if you understood the essential workings of these brain chemicals and how they interact?
What if you had the tools to amplify or quiet each one to create the beautiful music that is your unique song?
You do not need to be a neuroscientist to understand how to do this. Most of us leverage these neurochemicals every single day.
- Have you ever had a cup of coffee to stay awake? You are amplifying epinephrine.
- Or a glass of wine to relax? You are leveraging serotonin.
- How about a piece of dark chocolate to help you focus at work? Now you are playing with an old favorite, dopamine.
Balancing the activity in our brain is second nature. Taking it to the next level is an essential skill if we want to experience life to the fullest.
What if you had a unique, personalized toolkit for optimizing these neurochemicals?
As a core component of Optimize Your Neurochemistry, our Brain Chemistry Toolkit guides you through decision-making and takes you beyond a silver bullet approach. Instead of over-using stimulants and sedatives, we craft a beautiful environment within, designed to sustain healthy brain function instead of wearing it out.
The Brain Chemistry Toolkit makes it easy to apply science-supported behavioral, nutrition, and herbal practices.
Imagine having the power to control how you think, feel, and perform—all through the lens of your neurochemistry.
In this program, you’ll gain a rich understanding of how your brain and nervous system govern your body, and with our Brain Chemistry Toolkit, you will create customized protocols to achieve your goals of optimized brain function and better health.
What's in the Curriculum?
The live classes are on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 PM - 7:30 PM Eastern Time, plus time for questions.
They are all recorded, with replays being posted the next day, and you have access to them forever.

In this class, we’ll explore the fascinating functions of acetylcholine, revealing how it enhances memory retention, sharpens cognition, and improves decision-making processes.
You’ll learn how this vital neurochemical supports attention and learning and is essential for brain injury recovery, helping to restore function, open neuroplasticity, dispel brain fog, and boost mental acuity.
By understanding the science behind acetylcholine, we can apply specific herbal and natural protocols to unlock your brain’s potential and improve focus and cognitive health in everyday life. Whether you’re interested in peak mental performance or simply looking to clear the fog and think more clearly, this class will give you the insights you need to optimize your brainpower.

Epinephrine and the Stress Factor: Boosting or Blocking Brain Power? with Charis Lindrooth
Discover the dual-edged sword of epinephrine (aka adrenaline) and stress in this deep dive into how your body’s “fight-or-flight” response can both enhance and hinder brain function. This class unpacks the intricate relationship between adrenaline, learning, memory, and overall cognitive performance. On one hand, adrenaline can sharpen focus, boost energy, and heighten your brain’s ability to absorb information under pressure. On the other, chronic stress can impair memory, reduce cognitive flexibility, and contribute to mental fatigue.
We’ll explore the biology behind stress responses, highlight adrenaline’s short-term benefits for quick decision-making and fast learning, and examine the long-term drawbacks of prolonged stress. Learn how to balance the advantages and disadvantages of stress to enhance your learning potential and protect your brain from the damaging effects of chronic stress. Whether you thrive under pressure or feel overwhelmed, this class offers actionable insights to help you harness adrenaline for peak mental performance.

Serotonin: Beyond Myths, Toward Better Mood and Well-Being with Charis Lindrooth
Unlock the truth behind serotonin and the “here and now” neurochemicals, GABA and oxytocin, that play a pivotal role in mood regulation, emotional balance, and a sense of well-being. In this class, we’ll dive into the real function of serotonin—how it helps regulate mood, appetite, sleep, and even social behavior, keeping you present and grounded in the moment. Does serotonin really hold the key to happiness?
We’ll bust common myths about depression treatment, challenging the idea that boosting serotonin alone is the answer to lifting your mood. You’ll learn why simply increasing serotonin levels, such as with popular medications like SSRIs, may not work for everyone, and we’ll explore natural alternatives that enhance serotonin function to support feelings of gratitude and satisfaction. From herbs and exercise to mindfulness and social connection, this class assesses holistic approaches to better mental balance.
Whether you’re curious about serotonin’s true role in your brain or seeking new strategies to enhance emotional well-being, this class will guide you toward a more balanced, feel-good life.
