Join Shiuwen of Floating Leaves Tea and learn about GABA oolong tea. This class will be experiential, and you’re invited to bring loose-leaf oolong tea, a cup, and hot water (or just bring yourself).
“GABA oolong is a specially processed tea that is flushed with nitrogen during what is traditionally an ‘oxidization’ process. This creates GABA (Gamma Aminobutyric Acid) in the tea leaves, the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in our central nervous system. GABA oolong is said to calm the nerves and potentially has a whole host of medicinal benefits.”

About Shiuwen
Shiuwen created a teahouse called Floating Leaves with the intent of bringing Eastern and Western cultures together in one room.
She grew up in Taiwan, where tea was simply a part of daily life. It was a way to bring friends together. It’s a connection to her home culture. Now she sees her position as a sort of bridge between East and West, sharing the simultaneously practical and abstract way the people of Taiwan see tea with an American audience.
When we can learn to understand each other beyond cultural barriers and get past the bounds of the mind, we can have a taste of freedom.
